Open For Inspection for Inside Out Magazine

Narrabeen Open for Inspection

I was recently invited by Inside Out magazine to view one of their Open for Inspection properties in Sydney’s Northern Beaches Narrabeen.

This incredible family home has been completely transformed from a three bedroom timber framed fibro cottage to a Modern Australian four bedroom open plan home.

Waiting 5 years to commence construction, the owners Hannah and Clyde carefully planned each stage of the transformation and managed to turn the house around to become their dream home in just 13 weeks.

Bathed in natural light, every space manages to combine the feeling of indoor/outdoor and the family’s coastal lifestyle.

With 4 young children growing up in the home, the owners opted for a streamlined polished concrete floor and bathrooms surfaces, softened by natural textiles and soft lighting, beautifully styled by Kerrie-Ann Jones.

Clever storage solutions are hidden throughout the house built by joiner and furniture designers Mr & Mrs White using the local supplier’s signature chunky raw timber.

The leafy pool and sundeck at the back of the home provides the ideal spot for entertaining and compliments the open plan style of this stunning home.

Open House for Inside Out Magazine

This is the second open house that Inside Out Magazine have invited The Style Project to,
and as with the previous Open House this one did not disappoint.

This inner city terrace is flooded with light from the moment you step through the front door.

White washed walls & floors add to a light and airy feeling in the home which is the
perfect backdrop for the homes diversified artwork collection.

From the comfort of the living room, with its electic mixture of artwork and photographs,
to a corner study nook by a large window, this home had been well thought through in terms
of what the owners wanted from their renovation.

The original fireplace and mantle are an ode to the homes original features
while the rest of the house has a more modern feel to it.

Onto the dining room with it’s white painted brick wall, the texture adding
to the warmth of this open space shared with the kitchen.
The highlight of the kitchen would have to be its yellow Lacanche stove,
ordered from France adding a perfect pop of colour to the room.

Heading upstairs, the all white painted floorboards, banister and walls
again add to the light in this home.  Upstairs bedrooms offer breezes through the
French doors which are a welcome relief come any typical Sydney summer.

Marble is a prominent feature in the bathroom with a continueous backsplash for the basin
and full marble in the shower.
Copper tapware adds a rustic and stylish finish to these rooms.

Heading outside you step onto an elevated decking area and an internal courtyard
is a lush oasis with a variety of plantings and the perfect spot to pull up a chair and enjoy the sunshine.

Invitation from Inside Out Magazine

Palm Beach Open House

Late last year I was invited by Claire Bradley, Editor in Chief of Inside Out Magazine to an
Open for Inspection at a house in Palm Beach.  An invitation I quickly accepted and off I set to Sydney’s Northern Beaches with my trusty camera in hand.  I was met onsite by the lovely team from Inside Out Magazine and what appeared to be a modest cottage from the street turned out to be something rather unexpected.

From the road you see the roof of the house with water glimpses through the windows.
Step inside and this house has been designed with how this family lives in a home that truly reflects living inside and out.  The water views are simply stunning.

As I learned the story of this house I was touched when I discovered that the architect designed this house for his parents to downsize to – adding even more meaning to what was to unfold as I walked through this stunning home.

Upon entering the house you head downstairs & just beyond a staircase leading to an upstairs storage area, immediately to your left is the master bedroom.

The master bedroom has been designed with tranquility in mind, both in the room itself and in the stunning views visible as there are shutters over the living room enabling you to take in the panorama of the water views that lay ahead.Screen Shot 2016-02-21 at 1.17.08 pm

The master bedroom has an ensuite that to me was everything French.
Practical, stylish & just the right amount of elements all combined.
The simplicity was the perfect answer to this stunning yet simple house.

Downstairs to the living room which was a light filled, comfortable living space.
Personalised elements filled the room along with comfortable seating & more of the white on white decor that fills the rest of the house.

A stunning view visible from both the master bedroom and the living room.
Australian’s truly have the market cornered with this style of indoor/outdoor living.
Waking to a view like this is guaranteed to set you up for a perfect day.

The house is awash with white and these black accents are the perfect compliment.  The roofline soars and the sea of white is the perfect backdrop for the the blue of the water views in this stunning home.

The living room is tranquil & timeless, yet still maintains the personality of the family living there.

I met Shannon Voss on the day, you might remember him from The Block.
Shannon was both warm and extremely knowledgeable about the house & the journey
it had undertaken to get to where it is today.

When walking downstairs I had no idea what to expect and then I came across two bedrooms that while very basic in their content, where all that was needed when staying overnight.  The Sheridan throws with their warm grey hues were exactly what a whitewashed room needed to add that extra warmth to the bedroom.
