Just Bedding

Just BeddingJust Bedding The Style Project

I’m a fan of Florence Broadhurst textiles and when Just Bedding sent me their Florence Broadhurst queen quilt cover, pillow slips & 2 continental pillow slips I was thrilled.  The fabric is soft & with a wide opening at the base, the doona wasn’t the usual wrestle to get it into all four corners.  I styled the bedding to show off it’s reversible doona cover and pillow slips which is always a bonus as it adds another dimension to the bed instead of it being all one pattern.

The Style Project Blog

By turning back the top of your doona you expose the pattern on the reverse and add more depth to the overall look of the bed.

In keeping with reversible fabrics I’ve used mustard and navy velvet accent cushions which are feather filled and sit perfectly in place on the fold.

Patterns don’t need to match, you just need a common element which in this case is the colour

Just Bedding have some guidelines on their website that I’m sure you’ll find helpful when you’re next looking to update your bedding.

For me, the number 1 priority when shopping for sheeting is that it’s a high quality thread count and white only.
White sheets work with all doona covers and bedding and with some fabric whitener in your wash they’ll always look as good as the day your bought them.

Wishing you a fabulous week ahead

What’s Your Style? Hamptons Coastal

Hamptons Coastal
Interior Design

Hamptons Coastal Interiors Sydney

What’s your style?

This interiors style is ever popular due to it’s ability to provide a calming and relaxed ambience in the home, while looking organised with a sophisticated, tailored aesthetic.

Max-Sparrow Furniture Inspiration

Even if your not blessed with a room of timber floor-boarding and white timber panelling along the walls, there’s no reason why you can’t dress your space to enjoy a holiday at home with this beach-inspired, natural look.

[Max-Sparrow Furniture Inspiration]

Villa Maison Suitcase

You can achieve the look at home with a careful curation of furniture and accessories along with a dash of attention to detail.
Today we dive in and focus on some great pieces that can be put together to create this style.

[Rattan Suitcase With Straps (25H x 60W x 45cmD) RRP$195]

designer boys careel bay shell collection

A Hamptons Coastal interior is light and airy with a collection of organic textures.
Combine rattan, raw timber, natural linens, and woven sea grass to bring it all together.

[Designer Boys Careel Bay Shell Collection
available in 56 x 46.5cm, 78 x 59cm, 107 x 87cm & 140 x 100cm]

Retreat Distribution

Select a neutral colour palette of beige, soft cream and ivory and bring your space to life with indigo accents.
Artworks, soft furnishings and decorative objects are great opportunities to do this.

[Retreat Distribution Hamptons Style Furniture]

The larger furniture pieces such as the sofa, the console table and coffee table work well when they have a fuller form with a strong and solid appearance.

[Retreat Distribution Marilyn Chest (89cmW x 53cmD x  80.5cmH]

Retreat Distribution Capitola Arm Chair

The presence of these pieces is best complimented by relaxed occasional furniture such as a pair of rattan or wicker arm chairs.

Canvas + Sasson Blue Geometric Lamp

A Hamptons interior takes influence from classical styles, demonstrated by balanced symmetry and order.
You can embrace this characteristic when you organise your decorative items by placing them in pairs.
Matching table lamps placed at either end of a console are a great example of this.

[Blue Geometric Lamp RRP$264]

Eichholtz Cliveden Sofa

Select a large, luxurious and plump sofa preferably with a skirted base and linen upholstery.
Your sofa will look complete once you add scatter cushions for extra comfort and some visual warmth.
Choose cushions in varying textures and patterns, but with a similar colour palette such as soft greys and nautical blues.

[Eichholtz – Cliveden Sofa (230cmW x 100cmD x 83cmH)]

Hamptons Cushions

[Left to Right: Canvas + Sasson Merchant Sykes Cushion (50x50cm) RRP$86
Canvas + Sasson Monaco Fringe Cushion in Grey (50x50cm) RRP$86
Vivian Grace Seville Cushion (60x40cm) RRP$99]

Bring personality to the space by styling your table surfaces, such as the coffee table, side tables and console.
Select a few found objects from the beach – think drift wood, large shells and bleached coral.

 [Atticus Lamp Table (50Wx50Dx55H) RRP$410]

Create a vignette in place by stacking a few of your favourite books and position a hurricane vase next to the stack.
You can finish the display with a large sea shell or another organic found object placed on top of the books.

[Arteriors Nantucket Driftwood Bowl RRP$645]

cromwell white faux bois floor lamp

Ensure the space has a bright and inviting ambience by bringing occasional lighting into the room.
A floor lamp works well next to a soft and cosy arm chair for illuminating night-time reading.
We love this one which features a sculpted stand to resemble a small tree.
The style and colour of this lamp compliments the organic nature of the other objects you would find in a Hamptons Coastal interior.

[Cromwell White Faux Bois Floor Lamp RRP$2,190]

You will find candles are always on display in a Hamptons Coastal home, whether placed atop a classical candlestick holder or inside a hurricane vase.
Silver objects add a polished finish to a table top display and your candle holding vessels are a great way to complete the look.

[Metal Accent Hurricane Vase RRP$126]

Spring Fling

Out with the old and in with the new.
As the days get warmer we start to notice that the grass is greener, flowers are blooming

With this in mind it’s time to take a fresh look at your home and see what

When writing this blog Siya (the newest member to our Style Team) told me that in her spare time she loves to play with watercolours.  There’s something about the way the colours soak up the canvas and she finds the fluidity of the paint very calming, not to mention how effortless it is to create a beautiful piece of art.
Even if you’re not the best artist there’s really no way to mess it up.

Welcome Siya!

Commercial Spaces as Residential Inspiration

Looking for decorating ideas?

Inspiration can come from anywhere, and I like to turn to
Commercial Spaces when looking for Residential inspiration.

A gallery, café, restaurant, hotel, office or foyer are all excellent sources to turn to.

Scaled back to suit the size of your home, any of these concepts could be just what you’ve been looking for!

Design Inspiration

When I start a new project

I draw inspiration from many different areas

Images I see, memories from a time that made me feel good (sparkly green from my childhood)
places that I have travelled to, and then there’s fashion which is a huge inspiration.

The pink in the beaches from Bermuda are working their way into a bedroom I’m designing, while
the yellow from an Easter image adds a pop of colour to an all white kitchen.

These images have been recent inspirations & all were sourced from Pinterest.
